Operation: Mumbai Minimalism Meets Ahmedabad Mayhem
(A story inspired by actual events… mostly.)

So here’s what happened.
Our Mumbai-based client had one simple brief for their Ahmedabad office:
“We want a clean, minimal, calming space—where the walls don’t shout, and the furniture doesn’t argue back.”
Easy, right?
We designed a palette so minimal it made vanilla look dramatic. A soft blend of greys and beiges that whispered “I have five bank accounts, and none of them are loud.” The walls were smooth, the lights were sleek, the carpentry was so sharp it could’ve filed someone’s nails.
But then came the site work in Vastrapur.

Scene 1:
Our electrician, a man with the aesthetic taste of a disco ball, walks in and says,
“Bhai, thoda neon laga de? Feels very silent in here.”
We hid the RGB strip before he could get creative.
Scene 2:
The carpenter, clearly having a bold day, flipped the orientation of the meeting table just to see how it feels. He called it “feng shui.” We called it “client might fire us.”
Scene 3:
The client arrives for the site visit. He walks into the pristine, zen-like office, looks around quietly, then asks:
“Where is the drama?”
We panic. Drama? We had designed an entire space that avoids drama! But then he laughs and says,
“Just kidding. This is exactly what we wanted—quiet, but strong. Like an Ahmedabad auto driver who doesn’t honk.”

Relieved, we guide him through every corner—the soft indirect lighting, the clean lines, the storage solutions hidden like secret compartments in a magician’s jacket. He’s impressed.
And just when we think we’re done, he points at the ceiling light and says:
“One thing though—can this rotate? Just in case we want a party vibe?”
So now, somewhere in Ahmedabad, there’s a gorgeously minimal office with one light that might someday throw a party. Just in case.

Moral of the story:
Designing an office is like hosting a Gujarati wedding—you plan for elegance, but always leave room for a little dance.
